Deans Office - Testing (ACT, SAT & other)

The PSAT/NMSQT is a comprehensive, standardized assessment administered at schools each October. The test provides an opportunity for you and your students to begin addressing areas where they may need extra attention as they prepare for life beyond high school. The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT®. It also gives you a chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools. COST is $20, make check payable to Norwalk High School and sign up in the Deans Office.  A limited number of tests are available.  Contact your Dean with questions!

The PSAT/NMSQT measures:

  • Reading, math reasoning, and writing skills that are important for successful academic performance in college
  • Knowledge and skills developed through years of study in a wide range of courses as well as through experiences outside the classroom
  • Critical thinking—the ability to reason with facts and concepts, rather than the ability to recall and recite the

If your child received meal assistance last school year, and you have not yet

applied for the 2014-15 School Year, your eligibility will expire on October 1st.

Full price meal charges will then automatically begin on October 2nd. The Nutrition

Department would like to encourage you to re-apply before September 30 so that if

your family qualifies for meal assistance, and you also complete the fee waiver

part of the application as well, your family will also qualify for free or reduced

priced school fees. You may apply online at www.schoolmealapp.com or obtain a

paper application by clicking the Free & Reduced Meal link located under the

Nutrition Tab. If you have any questions or need help filling out the application,

please contact the Nutrition Office at 981-9876.
