Tim Geyer, Director of Technology Dear Parents, Norwalk is pleased to offer a service to parents through our student management system, Infinite Campus. This service is called Parent Portal. With Parent Portal, rather than waiting for the school to email your child’s results, you can receive them anywhere, anytime.
For the privilege of accessing the Parent Portal, every parent is expected to act in a responsible, ethical and legal manner. The Portal is available to every parent or guardian of students within Norwalk Community Schools. Parents are required to adhere to the following guidelines:
Parents will not share their passwords with anyone, including their children. Parents will not attempt to harm or destroy any data on any network. Parents will not use the Portal for any illegal activity, including violation of Data Privacy laws. Anyone found violating laws will be subject to civil and/or criminal prosecution. Parents will not access data or any account owned by another parent or user. Parents who identify a security problem must immediately notify Tim Geyer, Director of Technology at (515) 981-4201. Please do not demonstrate this problem to anyone else. Users who are identified as a security risk to the Parent Portal or any other Norwalk Community computers or networks, will be denied access to the Parent Portal. Review the user guidelines and system requirements before filing the online request. Please expect one week for use to process your account. We will be verifying your child’s data before we create your user account. KEEP YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD SECURE. Norwalk Community Schools Parent Portal User Guidelines and System Requirements 1. Your Parent Portal account will become active when we receive and process your acceptance of the Acceptable Use Procedure / User Guidelines and contact you to verify your information. Login information and instructions will arrive via email or at a training session.
Parents will have access to the following data about their child: a. Attendance b. Grades: Updates will vary depending on the course and building. Parents can expect grades will be posted 2 weeks after the due date with exceptions of large projects. Teachers will need adequate time to grade all of the students’ work and to post the scores. Technical difficulty could also postpone grades being posted. Please keep in mind that the scores displayed in the Parent Portal give an approximate grade determination at a specific point in time. 2. Parents should not share this password with anyone and should not set their browers to auto login to the Portal. System recommendations for home computers to access Parent Portal: Internet Connections – 56K modem speed or higher. Browser – Internet Explorer 5 or higher, Mac or Windows. A computer that can run the appropriate browser version (IE6 or higher). A monitor with at least 800x600 resolution. Security Features of the Parent Portal: Three unsuccessful login attempts will disable the Parent Portal account. In order to use the Portal again, parents will need to e-mail Linda Bussanmas to have the account reactivated. You will be automatically logged off if you leave the Parent Portal web browser open and inactive for a period of time. All attempts at logging into the system are recorded and monitored, and a full audit trail is tracked. You should expect a reply within 3 business days. Please include your name, your username, your telephone number and a brief description of the problem in your e-mail or voicemail request.
